Elizabeth Hay Brown

Elizabeth uses photography to capture the atmosphere, quality of light and colour of an experience. She usually works digitally and in her project work she often includes text with her images.

Her work can be divided into two different strands ‘Collections’: her interpretations of landscapes, seascapes, urban environments and everyday experiences and ‘Social Photography,’ which is project based and involves interactions with people. She is becoming increasingly well known for this work and the dynamic way in which she interacts to develop these projects. She has often been called the ‘Shoe Lady’ since she carried out ‘Shoe String Stories’.

She is also beginning to bring together collections of her work by developing her skills in making handmade and digitally produced photobooks.

She exhibits her work widely in the London and the South East and has work in collections in Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, France and Norway

Elizabeth is an active member of Crouch End Open Studios and is the Events Organiser for London Independent Photography

She completed an MA in Photography at De Montfort University in 2008
